History Of Gin and Tonic

The Gin & Tonic is the world’s most popular cocktail. Gin and tonic has storied history that places it at the heart of the largest empire the world has ever known. The story began with India by British Army. The cocktail was introduced by the army of the British East India Company in India . Malaria was a big problem in india on that time. In the 1700s Scottish doctor George Cleghorn studied that quinine , to prevent Malaria.

G&T

Tonic water contains quinine. In the early 19th century British officers in India took to adding a mixture of water, sugar, lime and gin to the quinine in order make the drink more pleasent & tasty. Since it is no longer used as an antimalarial, tonic water today contains less quinine , it is usually sweetened and is much less bitter. The drink is getting famous all over the world. Gin and Tonic is also called as G&T.

Recipe of Gin and tonic

The best gin and tonic is made with a quality gin, especially those with a citrus flavor and great blend of botanicals. Gin and Tonic Ingredients:- 

  • Gin – 45 ml.
  • Tonic water-  for top up
  • Lime wedges-  2-3 wedges/mint/cucumber
  • Ice cubes – 2-3 cubs
Preparation:

Add gin to a highball glass filled with ice. Squeeze in lime wedges according to taste , then add them to glass. Add tonic water; stir to combine
