Cosmopolitan is one of the greatest cocktail of our life. It is a beautiful reddish pink drink. The cocktail is a perfect example of how changeable our drinking habits are, it makes a important impact on how we approach drinking . The drink is great to enjoy in summers. It’s a marvellous drink for any occasion.
The History of Cosmopolitan
This drink’s origin is commonly disputed, this has many stories of origin, but the mostly we like is Toby Cecchini made the drink in 1988 while working at the famous Odeon in Manhattan. The drink is similar resemblance to a classic cocktail named Daisy which was printed in the 1934 book Pioneers of Mixing at Elite Bars 1903-1933, which explained a recipe of a drink made of gin, Cointreau, lemon juice and raspberry Syrup.
There are many other stories about the drink. According to Gary Regan , the South Beach Bartender Cheryl Cook created the original Cosmopolitan cocktail. Whatever the origin was , Cosmopolitan got popularity in the 1990s , when the HBO show ” Sex and the City” was at its peak. It’s became a regular favourite of Sarah Jessica Parker in the HBO successful TV series.
- Vodka – 45 ml
- Cointreau – 15 ml
- Cranberry juice – 45 ml
- Lime juice – 5 ml
- Ice – to fill shaker
- Orange peel – A twist flambeed orange peel.
- Garnish – Lime wheels
- Glass Type – Martini
- Shake all the ingredients with ice and double strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Holding one end of the orange peel carefully set in on fire from the other end using a lighter.
- Blow the flame out after a couple of seconds and drop the peel into the glass. Serve immediately.
Note: Youcan use lime wheel for garnish instead of orange peel.
